Beaded Picnic Utensils

If you love easy summer crafts then you'll love these Wire Wrapped and Beaded Picnic Utensils from Candace. This project is perfect for a summer

Materials:
  • Plastic flatware
  • 18 gauge wire – 8″ per flatware piece
  • Assorted beads
  • Focal bead
Instructions:
  1. Make a small spiral in one end of the wire.

  2. Think of the smallest part of the spiral as the centre of the handle. Make a bead trap by creating a sharp bend away from the centre, sliding on a bead and bending the wire sharply back toward the centre.

  3. Pin the spiral at the top of the handle with your thumb as you wrap the wire around the handle. Slide on a bead.

Fig and Fudge Biscuits

These biscuits can easily be made by kids with only a little grown-up help, and they're deliciously crunchy. My kids love to make these, and they are popular when it comes to a mothers day or fathers day treats for the grandparents.

Fig and Fudge biscuits - prettyshabbyuk.com

Ingredients

60g/2¼oz plain flour
40g/1¾oz butter, softened
1 ready-to-eat dried fig
20g/1oz caster sugar
1 tbsp chopped fudge

Method

Preheat the oven to 180C/350/Gas 4. Place a sheet of baking paper onto a baking tray.

Put the flour and butter into a mixing bowl and rub the two together to make a crumbly mixture.

Snip the stalk off the dried fig then cut the fruit into small pieces using the scissors. Add to the bowl with the sugar and the fudge pieces.

Use your hands to start to squeeze it all together – you can push down with your knuckles into the bowl. As it starts to make a lump, turn the bowl out onto the work surface and continue squeezing to make a long, fat sausage shape.

Tear the mixture in half. Pull each piece into half again then each smaller piece into two, trying to keep them about the same size. This makes eight pieces of biscuit dough.

Roll each piece into a round ball then put onto the lined tray and flatten a little with your hand – repeat with the other seven biscuits.

Put the baking tray in a preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the biscuits are light golden-brown.

Leave to cool on the paper. Serve with some red grapes or more dried fig.

How did I Spring back into getting my Repurpose groove on for Frugal Décor Tuesday? With some pallet wood scraps, thrifty metal garden hook, mini galvanized bucket and an iron Vintage Garden Faucet Hook that I had in my stash.

Welcome back to another Dose of DIY where a group of us get together and share some creative and inspiring themed ideas.  Today we will be sharing  ideas “Decorating with Eggs Real or Faux”  Just in time for Spring. With Easter coming yearly this year, I am sure you will find something here to inspire you.  Today I will be sharing my Egg Succulent Spring Centerpiece.  Be sure to check out at the end of this post for more inspiration on decorating  with eggs.

Soft and doughy flatbreads that are full of fresh flavors like cilantro and creamy avocado. Vegan, whole-grain, and perfect for topping with your favorite spreads, dips, and proteins! These Cilantro Avocado Flatbreads come together in under 20 minutes and are the perfect foundation to base a weeknight meal around. Tacos, falafels, wraps, gyros…the possibilities are endless!

Ever since getting back from Haven last year I have been slightly obsessed with concrete.  There were these guys there from Buddy Rhodes and they did some of the most Ah-Maz-Ing concrete work. They specialized in countertops, but some of their art pieces and furniture were so fantastic I haven’ stopped thinking about it since then.

This past weekend I visited a flea market held at one of my favorite shops, Merchant Square, in Chandler, AZ.  This store has over 200 merchants selling their vintage wares and I have always found the most unique treasures.

Every week I try to have a sweet made for the house. Something portable for hubby and the girl to take to work/school so we don't have to purchase store bought, mass produced goodies.

Soft and chewy chocolate chip cookies stuffed with a mini Cadbury Creme Egg. The perfect, easy Easter bake!

We’ve made a lot of mini mason jar dessert recipes over the years, and they are each extraordinary in their own right.  This Apple Caramel Cheesecake Parfait recipe is a pure delight.  I mean–cheesecake!  Need I say more?  When you put together things like cheesecake and apple pie, you get a result that is entirely awe inspiring.

My kids get tired of doing the same Easter Egg decorating and kits every year! While the kits are easy to make there are a lot of other great ways to decorate Easter Eggs! Plus while doing dyed eggs you can do several different versions of dyed Easter Eggs without much extra effort to create a variety of eggs.

The Meals we choose when away from the house aren’t always our best option. We choose quick and easy, which usually means a drive-through and greasy. When you’re at work and you only have a 30 minute lunch break, it may be what you resort to. But there are other, better options. So save your money, your taste buds and your hips, because I have a fabulous lunch-on-the-go alternative.
